With the prevalence of needles and other medical sharps in modern medicine, you can find a sharps bin almost anywhere there is a medical clinician. This variety of locations means any sharps bin we produce must be hard wearing and versatile enough to cope with the local environment and the treatment it may receive.
We realise not all medicine is practised in a climate controlled GP’s office and our sharps bin designs reflect this. Although a sharps bin would ideally always be kept away from where it could be knocked over, this is not always possible when treatment is taking place in the open or in a disaster zone. Therefore it has to be strong enough to survive a fall from height and to survive being crushed by other items.
Many people, such as those with type 1 diabetes, also have to keep a sharps bin in the home. During a lifetime of treatments it is inevitable it will be knocked over or dropped at least once, regardless of how careful they are with it. It is in situations such as these that people need a sharps bin they can trust to keep children, pets or even clumsy adults safe.
With infection control becoming more and more difficult in increasingly crowded hospitals, medical staff also need to be able to trust in the sharps bin they’re handling. Besides keeping the sharps themselves secure, a good sharps bin shouldn’t allow any fluid leaks either.
At Amcor Flexibles/SPS we understand all these considerations and many more when it comes to designing our products, so you can rest assured that a sharps bin from us is one that you can put your faith in.
