Following the introduction of "UN Regulations for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods", Sharpak Healthcare carried out a comprehensive appraisal of the issues concerning the safe disposal of sharps contaminated with Cytotoxic Drugs and Cytotoxic Waste.
It became clear that the majority of drug manufacturers do not mark their products with the appropriate packaging group classifications, thereby leaving medical staff to decide how to safely dispose of their contaminated sharps.
What's more, when different drug types are used in the clinical environment, it is a certainty that a cocktail of drugs will result, making a correct assessment of their classification even more difficult.
Our range of SHARPAK® HYDRI sharps containers meet these requirements by incorporating special sorbent mats to absorb the fluids which accumulate in the bottom of sharps containers - thereby preventing spillage of the drugs or solutions from the container during its use and disposal.
The Sharpak Hydri comes in a variety of sizes, the Hydri Compact, Hydri 18, Hydri 35, Hydri 60, Hydri 120 and Hydri 220.
